Our Protector and Saviour: Vikings No More

They gave us the fighting spirit and are most probably responsible for giving us the ginger hair so many of us are cursed/ blessed with. They came from Denmark and are known as the Vikings and for a time they ruled a good deal of Scotland's West Coast and all of our islands.

After a hard won battle in Largs on the West Coast we are left with a legacy that has impacted the country in many ways - albeit a little more subtely than most of our other influences.

But what if they come back again? Thankfully we have out own protector. The mighty Irvine Dragon stands guard over the western coast at Irvine Beach Park to keep us safe once and for all. Long may it protect us!
